Derom Bangun, Indonesian Palm Oil Board
Derom Bangun is Vice Chairman of Indonesian Palm Oil Board (IPOB). He was graduated in Chemical Engineering from ITB (Bandung Institute of Technology), attended Senior Executive Program at Sloan School of Management, MIT, USA as well as Oils and Fats Trading Course by FOSFA (Federation of Oils, Seeds and Fats Association) in London. His experience includes 22 years working for P.T. Socfindo as Head of Technical/Technological Department and as Adviser to the Management and 10 years as a consultant for designing and supervising the erection of palm oil mills and refineries. He founded and managed P.T. Kinar Lapiga and two other small plantation companies. In Gapki he served as Chairman from 1999-2006, as Executive Chairman from 2006-2009 and currently as a member of Advisory Board. Derom Bangun was named man of the year by Globoil India, Mumbai in 2006 and awarded Honorary Fellowship by Malaysian Oils Scientists and Technologists Association (MOSTA), Malaysia in 2010. He has been a speaker at international conferences on palm oil in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, London, Mumbai, Phoenix (USA), Oxford, Jakarta, and Bali. In 2010 he was convened as a member of External Advisory Group to the World Bank. Presently he is a commissioner for P.T. Tolan Tiga Indonesia (Sipef Group) and P.T. VVF (India), an oleo – chemical industry.
